Berkshire Pigs, Large Black & Poultry breeders Northland

Welcome to the Good Life! Drew and Helen would like to say hello and welcome to our website.

After starting out with one pig as part of our self sufficiency plan we got truly bitten by the pig breeding bug. Focusing on quality over quantity we breed heritage pigs on our small holding just North of Dargaville, where we also breed a range of heritage farmyard chickens. We've carefully selected the pig breeds we offer and their future is very important to us so not only are we members of the Rare Breeds Conservation Society of New Zealand, Drew is also a council member of the New Zealand Pig Breeders Association.

As always, from little acorns do great Oak trees grow and so we've added a couple more ventures to our little cottage industry. We grow a range of plants, mainly useful things that you can eat, and sell these from our Little Red Van at a few markets around Northland; you'll find us at the Riverside Produce Market in Dargaville on a Thursday and the Paparoa Farmer's Market every other Saturday.

The addition of a small herd of dairy goats started our other little venture, Goat's milk soap. Made with only the best essential oils, no artificial fragrances or colourings these soaps are kind to the skin and look pretty funky too. We have a range of fragrances from Lavender to Cinnamon and as we make in small batches we're always happy to try any fragrance suggestions you might have. Drop us an email for our menu.
